Jake White and Rob Boyce – Wilgenhof
Wilgenhof is the oldest male residence in Stellenbosch and the Second Oldest in South Africa. A willow was the first residence to officially own a pub on the grounds of the university. The building, Old Bachelors, in which the pub currently resides, was inaugurated in 1974 by the Vice Chancellor and Old Boy of Wilgenhof, Dr. J.S. Gericke. Old Bachelors is also a National Heritage Site.
The Pub was “officially opened” in 1984…or that is the year when the university was first introduced to Wilgenhof pub. The pub is called the “Danie Craven Sport Gedenksentrum” but no recognition is given to Dok Craven in the Pub.
